BHOPAL: Day after a video went viral of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan allegedly claiming that the 15-months Congress government was toppled with instructions from the BJP central leadership, former chief minister Kamal Nath on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the ruling party. “I have been saying from the first day that BJP deliberately brought down my majority and democratically elected government through a sheer game of conspiracy and enticement,” Kamal Nath tweeted.
“My government was waiving loans of farmers, generating employment for the youth, protecting the honour of women, running a campaign against adulteration and mafia, bringing investment to the state, continuously working for people’s welfare which BJP could not swallow for long,” @OfficeOfKNath tweeted. “The BJP was afraid that all this work would make it impossible for its return to power for many years,” the former chief minister argued.
There are 24 assembly segments in the state due for bypolls after the death of two sitting legislators and resignations by 22 Congress MLAs who switched loyalties to the BJP in March bringing down the Kamal Nath government. On Monday, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was addressing a party workers meet in the Residency building in Sanver assembly seat. Sanver MLA Tulsiram Silawat is one of the 22 Jyotiraditya Scindia followers who left the party and joined the BJP.
Silawat who was Kamal Nath’s health minister is now minister for water resources in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government. But after his resignation from state assembly as Congress MLA, the seat fell vacant. Tulsiram Silawat is now the likely BJP candidate from the same seat for the upcoming bypoll.
On Tuesday, the viral video showed Chouhan telling BJP party workers in Sanver, “Kendriya netritya neh tyay kiya. Ki yeh Sarkar girna chahiye. Yeh barbad karr degi, tabah karr degi. Ab batao Jyotiraditya Scindiaji aur Tulsi Bhai ke bagair Sarkar girr sakti thhi kya? Aur koi tarika nehi thha (Central leadership decided to bring down the government or they would ruin everything. Now tell me, would it be possible with Jyotiraditya Scindia ji and Tulsi Bhai? There was no other way).”
As Chouhan’s video went viral, Kamal Nath took to twitter and trained his guns on the BJP. “Now it has been confirmed and truth has been revealed to the people of the state about the kind of conspiracy hatched to topple my government and who were the persons involved in it,” Kamal Nath said. “Those who claimed that the Congress government did not have majority support and fell because of the disgruntlement within, their untruthfulness has been exposed. Shivraj (Singh Chouhan) ran a government based on lies for 15 years. People taught him a lesson but even now he is making false promises,” the senior Congress leader twitted.
