7-yr imprisonment, fine up to Rs 3 lakh for those who harm cows in UP

Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday amended the UP Cow Slaughter Prevention Act through an ordinance to award anyone who harms a cow or endangers its life with up to seven years’ imprisonment and Rs 3 lakh fine. The new law will apply to anyone who tries to endanger a cow’s life or tries to illegally transport it or deny food and water to cattle.
