28 fresh COVID-19 cases detected in Goa

The state recorded 28 new confirmed cases of the dreaded coronavirus (COVID-19) on Wednesday and 24 of these have been linked to the locality of Mangor Hill, which is a containment zone in Vasco.

The remaining cases pertain to two persons, who have travelled to Goa by road from Maharashtra and two other persons, who travelled by train – one from Madhya Pradesh and the other from Gujarat.

Earlier, a total of 250 cases linked to Mangor Hill were recorded. With the new 24 cases, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 linked to the containment zone has gone up to 274.

Till date, Goa has seen 387 confirmed cases of COVID-19 of which 320 are active while 67 patients have recovered from the disease. The directorate of health services (DHS), in its media bulletin issued, stated that the condition of all the patients is ‘stable’.

According to the DHS media bulletin, ten new suspected cases of the dreaded coronavirus were reported in Goa on Wednesday. All the ten patients have been quarantined in the isolation ward at the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim.

The DHS informed that of the 3,138 samples drawn for examination on Wednesday, 1,546 tested negative, 28 tested positive while reports of the remaining 1,564 samples are awaited.

The DHS has placed around 898 people under facility quarantine in various residencies and hotels across the state.
