CHANDIGARH: A day after opening of religious places in Punjab, the state government on Tuesday issued orders allowing functioning of community kitchens, preparation and distribution of langar at religious places by strictly following social distancing and hygiene norms.
The state government issued these orders after realizing that the central government had in its June 4 orders allowed community kitchens to function provided people follow proper hygiene and social distancing norms.
After the opposition had attacked the Punjab government for meddling in religious affairs, CM Captain Amarinder Singh had said that the decision to bar distribution of prasad at religious places was that of the central government and the state government had no role.
