UT adviser Manoj Parida said the decision was taken as there had been an adverse effect on the economy. Welcoming the move, Charanjiv Singh, Chairman, Chandigarh Beopar Mandal said it will boost the city's economy. However, the odd-even system will continue for congested rehri markets like those in sectors 15, 19 and 22.
UT administrator V P Singh Badnore, during a review meeting on Tuesday, stressed the administration should keep a watch on people coming from other states, so that infection is detected at the earliest and can be contained. He suggested the PGI authorities should examine the density of infection among various patients and compare it with other states, so that further decisions could be taken.
