At Kashi Vishwanath temple, New York devotee first to perform e-rudrabhishek

VARANASI: When chief minister Yogi Adityanath launched the e-rudrabhishek facility on Monday ahead of the reopening of Kashi Vishwanath temple on Tuesday, the first devotee to perform the ritual was from New York City.
After saying ‘abhinandan hai aapka’ (honour for you) to the American devotee of Indian origin, the chief minister witnessed the online ritual inside the temple.

Speaking to TOI, divisional commissioner Deepak Agrawal said, “The chief minister marked the beginning of e-rudrabhishek facility for devotees in India and abroad, who cannot make it to the temple to perform the ritual. A batch of eight priests has been trained to perform e-rudrabhishek with the help of tablets. More priests will join the service if required.”
Agrawal said, the first booking came from the New York devotee and e-rudrabhishek charges are similar to the regular ritual at the temple. After coming out the temple, the chief minister reviewed progress of KV Dham Corridor project and asked officials to meet the deadline.
The chief minister had touched down at the Police Lines ground in Varanasi at 6 pm. After holding a brief meeting with public representatives of BJP, he proceeded towards the Kashi Vishwanath temple.
