Only 50% shops open in Mohali malls

MOHALI: Just 50% of shops were opened in malls that saw hardly any crowds on the first day of Unlock 1.0 in the district on Monday.
Mohali has three major malls - VR Punjab in Kharar, Bestech in Sector 66 and Paras Downtown in Zirakpur.
Rishab Mehrotra, operations manager, VR Punjab Mall, said, "Only 50% shops opened today. The others will open later. We have a capacity of 12,000 visitors, but today we got 2,500 to 3,000 visitors. Slowly, we will see customers returning."
Similarly, Sunil Ahuja, operations manager, Bestech Mall, said, "We are adopting a wait-and-watch policy before opening takeaway services at food court. However, online delivery is functional. At one go we are not allowing more than 150 visitors in the mall. Guards have been directed to ensure people maintain social distancing. Shops are not allowed to cater to more than five customers at a time." Malls have made a mobile application-based order system for food courts. Customers can order through the app and then go to pick up their stuff.
