Mumbai: Youth's body goes missing from hospital mortuary, FIR lodged

MUMBAI: The Tilak Nagar police on Tuesday registered an FIR against the officials of Rajawadi Hospital in Mumbai after the body of a Covid-19 positive youth went missing from its mortuary.
On Monday former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya had raised the issue that the body of a 24-year-old youth, who was stabbed to death on June 3 by his cousins in Deonar, went missing from the mortuary of Rajawadi Hospital. His Covid test later turned out to be positive.
The hospital authorities said their team was searching the missing body.
Sources said that there was also a possibility that the body may have been handed over to a wrong person for disposal.
“There is short staff, plus the bodies in the morgue are tightly wrapped. Every body has to be unwrapped to check the identity and that is the reason it is taking some time.” said an official.
