SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh DGP Sanjay Kundu has been home quarantined while the police headquarters in Shimla has been sealed for sanitization following the death of a
Covid-19 positive patient in Delhi on Tuesday as he had visited the police headquarters in Shimla on June 1 and had met Kundu and some other officials. Around 30 police officers and personnel have been quarantined.
In a statement, media officer of the police headquarters said that on June 1 a person had visited the police headquarters and travelled to Delhi on the same day where he stayed thereafter. The media officer said now it has been reliably learnt that the said person has tested positive for coronavirus in Delhi on Monday and he passed away on Tuesday.
He said that police department was following established protocols and advisories issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. “By way of abundant precaution therefore, we are sanitizing and sealing the areas he had visited,” he added.
The media officer said that officers and personnel who might have come into the contact of positive person are being medically tested. He said that officers and personnel tested will remain in self quarantine till such time as their results come out to be negative.
Kundu had recently assumed the charge of DGP Himachal Pradesh and June 1 was his first day in office and the deceased person had also come to congratulate him like others. The DGP after assuming the charge had not only met chief minister Jai Ram Thakur and other officers but he had also attended several meetings. Before assuming charge, Kundu was posted as Principal Secretary to the chief minister.
