New Delhi: The office of Bihar’s chief electoral officer has started preparations for the 2020 state assembly polls.

Last week, Bihar’s chief electoral officer H Srinivasa held talks with district magistrates and top police officials of all the 38 districts to complete the tasks required for holding the polls.

The tenure of current assembly, which has 243 legislators, will end on November 29 this year. The previous election was held in October-November of 2015.

“We have started our preparation for the assembly polls,” Srinivasa told ET on phone. During his talk with DMs and SPs through video link, Srinivasa discussed various works related to elections which are to be completed as per the planner.

Reports from different parts of Bihar said all district administrations have begun preparations for holding the election.

These tasks include database of government employees, physical verification of booths, identifying “expenditure sensitive constituencies” as well as “expenditure sensitive pockets”, updating district election officer’s (DEO’s) website and preparing for the special summary revision (SSR-II) of the electoral rolls.
