Vasco: Residents of Goa containment zone of Mangor Hill on Tuesday placed their grievances before the Chief Secretary Parimal Rai during his visit to the area along with other senior officials of the state government.

The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Health Secretary Nila Mohanan, inspector general of police Jaspal Singh, district collector South Ajit Roy, superintendent of police South Arvind Gawas and others.

Some residents of Mangor Hill complained that though they are not part of the containment zone, they are restricted from carrying out their daily activities and have not received essential commodities for the last several days.

“There are no positive cases of COVID-19 in our areas but still we have been included in the containment zone,” said a youth. He said that the people who are not part of COVID-19 affected areas should be given freedom to buy essential commodities.

The Chief Secretary Rai and Health Secretary Mohanan listened to the grievances of the people and were disappointed for not receiving essential commodities or medical facilities in the areas.

It is learnt that the government team advised people to give names of persons not receiving essential commodities.

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Nila Mohanan, interacting with media persons in Panaji, informed that on demand from the people the Outpatient Department timings have been extended by one hour and now the people from Mangor Hill can avail the services between 10 am to 1 pm.

She informed that all required medicines will be supplied to the residents adding, “Essential goods have been supplied to the people by South Goa Collectorate.”
