Only two malls open in Noida, rest seek time

Noida: Most malls in Noida deferred their opening on Monday, saying they would need a few more days to discuss the Covid guidelines with their partners and get the premises ready. Despite a go-ahead from the government, only two malls opened in the city on the first day.
At the malls that opened — Gaur City and Centrestage — workers were seen disinfecting the premises at regular intervals and asking visitors to maintain social distancing norms. At Gaur City, 90 of the 150-odd stores had opened, while 19 of 45 shops had opened in Centrestage.
Monday morning hardly had any customers, but the footfall gradually increased towards the evening.
Manoj Gaur, the owner of Gaur City, said it would take time for all shops to open. “We witnessed a decent number of visitors on the first day. Many shops and supermarkets, such as Big Bazar, Lifestyle, Shoppers Stop, Max, Naayka, Lenskart, Geetanjali, Meena Bazaar, Lakme, and Looks Salon opened. The others will open soon. All necessary precautions have been taken and visitors are being made aware of the norms we will follow here. They need not worry about hygiene and safety here,” he added.
At Centrestage, too, store managers spent the day cleaning their premises.
“All vehicles that enter the mall are being sanitised first. A sanitisation tunnel has also been set up and anyone without masks is not being allowed,” said a spokesperson for Centrestage.
