CHANDIGARH: A Covid-19 patient in Haryana would be reimbursed only if he or she is treated in any private hospital after being referred by the state health facilities. Those admitted for treatment on their own in the private hospital will have to bear the expenses of treatment from personal pocket.
The state has defined three categories of patients for reimbursement — a government employee or his or her dependent, patients with private health insurance policy and those covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
According to rules, approved by the CM, government employees and their dependents can avail of treatment under the existing reimbursement policy. People having health insurance would be charged as per their individual policy and for those covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the government would reimburse the amount according to the scheme. For persons who do not come under above three categories, the Covid-19 hospital shall charge as per their existing rates. However, the government would reimburse the expenditure only as per Ayushman Bharat scheme rates. The remaining amount (actual bill minus Ayushman Bharat scheme rates) would be paid by patient.
