Nearly 10,000 coronavirus cases in 24 hours push India’s overall tally past 2.66 lakh

Following a spike of 9,987 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, India's overall coronavirus tally has pushed the total cases in the country to over 2.66 lakh, according to the health ministry.

As many as 9,987 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 331 deaths in the last 24 hours, ending Tuesday morning, has pushed India’s total tally to 2.66 lakh.

The death toll due to coronavirus in India has climbed to 7,466.

With the fresh number of Covid-19 cases in India, the total now stands at 2,66,598, according to the Health Ministry.

The total number of cases include 1,29,917 active cases, while 1,29,215 have cured/discharged/migrated. This is the sixth consecutive day that India has continued to register close to 10,000 single-day Covid-19 infections.

On Monday, India saw a spike of 9,983 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours, beginning Sunday, which pushed the country's total Covid-19 count to over 2.56 lakh.

India is the fifth worst-hit country due to coronavirus pandemic. The other four countries in terms of coronavirus cases in the world include the United States, Brazil, Russia and the United Kingdom.
