The Tamil Nadu government also cancelled the pending Class XI exams.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu on Tuesday cancelled Class X board exams scheduled to start on June 15. Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced that all students would be promoted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
More than nine lakh students were scheduled to appear for exams at 12,690 centres.
The state government also cancelled the pending Class XI exams. A Class XII exam for absentees has been postponed, and a date would be announced later.
Opposition parties and the Madras high court criticised the state government for holding exams by putting the lives of students at risk during a pandemic. The court on Monday gave the state time till June 11 to take a decision.
Following this, the government conducted a review meeting on Tuesday.
"Health experts and epidemiologists said the Covid-19 spread will not come down in near future. For Class X students, the marks would be based on their quarterly and half yearly exam performance. "Students would get 80% weightage for half yearly and quarterly exam marks and 20% weightage for attendance," he further said.
