Earlier, these individuals were treated as suspected cases and throat swabs were collected within six hours of their death.
The new testing guidelines issued on Monday have excluded death of suspected cases from the criteria.
Returnees from Maharashtra with comorbidity and/or aged above 60 years will be tested on 5th to 7th days of arrival after the end of institutional quarantine even if they are asymptomatic.
