Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi has launched a scathing attack on the Modi government over MNREGA. Sonia said that during the lockdown of the UPA government's flagship scheme MNREGA, the poor are very well off. While the BJP has been making fun of it for years. In an article written in a newspaper, Sonia said that she wants to tell the government that this is a time of national crisis, not politics. MNREGA is not an issue of Congress vs BJP.

The Congress leader said that the government has a powerful system in the form of MNREGA, please use it to help the people of the country in times of need. The MGNREGA scheme of 2005 is a shining example of judicious systemic change. He said that this scheme has proved its importance in these years. Even in the last six years, its importance remained in an opposing government.

Sonia Gandhi said that the current government continued to discredit the scheme, ignoring it, but reluctantly she trusted it. Sonia said that we should not forget that MNREGA has come into force under a law passed by the Parliament. The MNREGA scheme is the result of years of struggle through civil society. Sonia added, "It was included in our manifesto in 2004. Modi government should not make MNREGA Congress vs BJP."
