2021 Mercedes-Benz EQA Electric Crossover Drops Camo As Debut Inches Closer

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz EQA, the company’s upcoming small electric crossover, took to the streets of Germany for some more testing, while showing more skin than ever before.

We can clearly notice the outlines of the enclosed grille, headlamps that look similar in size and shape to the new-gen GLA but have their own lighting signature, taillamps likely joined together by a chrome strip and clean-looking tailgate, featuring the license plate on the rear bumper.

The Mercedes EQA will slot under the EQB and EQC as the brand’s entry-level electric model. The German automaker is expected to offer the EQA with different powertrain configurations, with up to three electric motors, making 201, 268, and 335 HP.

As is the case with the latest EVs, battery packs with different capacities are believed to be offered, offering a choice between 60 to 110 kWh units, providing an electric range in the region of 250 miles (~400 km) for the base model. The electric all-wheel-drive system should at least be an option, if not on the EQA, then likely on the more spacious EQB.

In the tech department, both the EQA and EQB are expected to feature the latest driver assistance gear. Those sitting behind the wheel will have other gizmos available, such as the semi-autonomous driving system and the latest MBUX infotainment and digital instrument cluster.

The EQA was supposed to premiere this fall, although the pandemic might have delayed its unveiling. Still, we wouldn’t be surprised if Mercedes decided to lift the curtain before the end of the year, with the EQB to follow in 2021.
