Delhi LG holds all party meeting over COVID-19 situation in national capital

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal today held an all party meeting to discuss the present situation with respect to COVID-19 in the national capital and measures to contain its spread.

Issues relating to availability of beds for COVID-19 patients, extensive testing, swift ambulance response and providing critical information in public domain were discussed in the meeting.

In a series of tweets, Mr. Baijal said, the meeting was held in a very constructive and harmonious atmosphere and many constructive suggestions were received during the meeting. He emphasized that all of us need to fight this pandemic together.

The Delhi LG underlined the need to conduct thorough contact tracing of affected persons and testing as per Indian Council of Medical Research’s guidelines for COVID-19 testing without any deviation.

He said, admission of eligible COVID positive patients to be ensured as per government’s protocol.

He called for timely action for infrastructure and human resource requirement considering possible scenarios to ramp up medical capacity.

He directed all stakeholders to delineate containment zones properly to ensure effective management to contain the spread of infection.

He also advised to follow best practices from others for management of COVID-19 cases in Delhi.

The meeting assumes significance, as it is being held in the backdrop of Delhi Lieutenant Governor’s decision to overrule the Delhi Government’s decision and allow everyone to get treated in all hospitals across the state.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia met Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to discuss the COVID situation in the National Capital.

In the meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority held at Lieutenant Governor’s residence, Mr. Sisodia highlighted the issue of rising number of COVID cases in the state.

Speaking to media, after the meeting, he ruled out community transmission of Corona virus.
