Google Maps to alert users about COVID-19 travel restrictions

However, with coronavirus seeming to be the new normal and the world looking at living with the virus, many countries are reopening intra-country transport and local transit.

In light of a changing daily commute, Google Maps has added a new feature that will alert users to delays and changes due to COVID-19-specific problems, for instance, to check how crowded a train station is, before travelling.

The feature is designed to help plan travel, and will roll out in Argentina, France, India, Netherlands, the United States and United Kingdom initially.

While not many countries have opened their borders, the navigation system is also adding features that show checkpoints at borders and other restrictions, starting with the Americas.
