Foreigner held for theft attempt

Mapusa: A foreigner attempting to commit theft by breaking lock of a shop in Mapusa market was arrested by Mapusa police.

According to Mapusa police, police constable Prajyot Gawas and Rajram Gaonkar while patrolling in the market in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday caught the foreigner red-handed while he was attempting to cut the lock of a rolling shutter of a shop. The foreigner was detained.

In this connection, on Tuesday evening Mapusa police registered an offence under sections 457, 380, 511 of Indian Penal Code against the foreigner identified as Andrey Vyacheslavovich and he was arrested on the complaint of Mahendra Swar, a resident of Shelpem-Duler, who is owner of pharmacy in the market.

Under the supervision of PI Tushar Lotlikar, LPSI Vibha Volvoikar is further investigating the case.
