AMBALA: Following concealment of vital information by a Covid-19 positive patient, the
Ambala police on the complaint of district civil surgeon registered a case against a woman at Ambala City police station on Monday night.
Ambala civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh lodged a complaint stating that, “A woman (42) of Chhoti Sabji Mandi area in Ambala City travelled from New Delhi on May 29 via car. She was found positive for Covid-19 on May 31. During contact tracing and history taking process by the district nodal officer of Covid-19 (quarantine), it was found that vital information has been concealed by the woman. Moreover, it was found that she was giving tuitions at home to school going children and roaming around freely instead of self-isolating. It is requested that she may be booked under the relevant law.”
On this complaint, a case has been registered against the woman under Section 188 (disobedience of orders duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), and 270 (malignant act) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 51 (punishment for obstruction) and 52 of the Disaster Management Act at Ambala City PS on Monday at 09.55pm.
“The woman is presently undergoing treatment at a designated district Covid hospital and action will be taken against her after she gets well and her quarantine period is complete. Meanwhile, on the complaint of Ambala civil surgeon, we have registered a case against her for concealing vital information”, told inspector Ram Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Ambala City Police Station.
