FALL RIVER - After months of being closed, with only digital access, Fall River Public Library is now offering contactless curbside pickup, according to a press release. Starting June 12, patrons can either place a hold on items online or call the library to place an order, then pick up their books, movies, and audio CDs at either the Main Library, 104 North Main St., or the South Branch, 58 Arch St.
After you place an order, you will get a call from the library letting you know your items are ready. You choose a pickup time. When you arrive, stand outside the door and hold up your library card. Staff will scan your card and check out your items. Then step back 6 feet from the door, and staff will place your bagged checkouts outside for you to pick up. Think of it as library take-out! You can order from our “menu” at www.sailsinc.org.
At the Main Library, only the Elm Street entrance (handicapped accessible) will be available. At the South Branch, use the front door from the parking lot. (Stairs are required, but anyone with a disability can call to make special arrangements.)
A receipt with your due date will be included in your bag. All items (including DVDs and CDs) should be returned in the outside book drop. The libraries are NOT open to the public for browsing. However, we are working on a new service to offer personalized “book bundles” for kids and adults. Watch for an announcement soon!
All precautions are being taken to ensure that books and other items patrons borrow are safe to handle. The library has been deep-cleaned and is cleaned daily. When items are returned, they are put in quarantine, untouched, for three days, based on recommendations from state and national agencies.
Vulnerable populations still be concerned about contamination from shared materials are encouraged to take advantage of our many online resources — eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, comics, and newspapers — which can be accessed from fallriverlibrary.org.
