Mastermind of jewelery store robbery held

Noida: Around four months after a jeweller was shot at by three assailants inside his showroom in Sector 12 in broad daylight, Noida police has managed to nab the main accused in the case.
While one of the accused, Nasir, was arrested in March in Gonda, the mastermind Muzammil, who has 26 cases against him across NCR, was held on Saturday evening following a shootout near Spice Mall in Sector 25. The third unidentified accused, is still at large.
Additional DCP (Noida) Ranvijay Singh said Muzammil and unidentified accomplice were on their bikes when the cops intercepted. “While Muzammil was caught in a crossfire, the third accused, managed to flee,” he said.
On the afternoon of February 13, Nasir, Muzammil and Chotu, had entered the showroom of jeweller Naresh Pawar and threatened him and his helper Mahendra. Nasir and Muzammil fired at the jeweller and one of the bullets had hit Naresh.
The shooting of the jeweller in broad daylight had led to protests by associations of jewellers and shopkeepers of Gautam Budh Nagar. It was also seen as one of the challenges for Noida police as the incident happened a month after the commissionerate system was put in place in the city.
