Last week, two
police personnel of Gautam Buddh Nagar who were deployed at a PCR, tested positive for
COVID-19.
While the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police has not issued any statements on how many police personnel in total have tested positive, but the police department officials say that the count is likely to be lower than 20.
However, hundreds of police personnel who are on the front-line and deployed in containment zones have been randomly tested, but most of the reports have come as negative.
'Noida Police had procured safety gear for staff in March'Police officials say that the reason why the cases in Gautam Buddh Nagar is low is because they have been taking precautionary measures since March 8.
Alok Singh, Police Commissioner, Gautam Buddh Nagar, had a meeting with the staff in the first week of March to discuss these measures, and since then, the Noida Police officials have been following all protocols and guidelines for their safety.
Talking about the measures, Harish Chander, DCP Zone II, says,"We had procured COVID-19 safety gear for our staff in March. And now face shields have been distributed to them, it is mandatory for them to wear shields on field. We are also giving masks to people who are out on the road without them."

Apart from wearing masks, face shields, gloves etc, the Noida Police is also taking additional measures like holding virtual meetings for senior-official levels and daily briefing of the staff with respect to safety measures and dos and don'ts.
Chander adds,"We are briefing staff members on a daily basis. The standard protocol guidelines are issued from the Noida Police Commissionerate."
In Noida, the Fire Department has been roped in for sanitisation. Arun Kumar Singh, Chief Fire Officer, Noida, says, "We have been repeatedly sanitising all the police stations, barricades, and traffic challan centre."
