Restaurants to open today, malls will not

Gurgaon: Hotels and restaurants will reopen on Monday. Malls and places of religious worship will not. The additional chief secretary, urban local bodies, on Sunday released the standard operating procedure (SOP) for easing lockdown, a day after the state government did.
“No such activities shall be allowed in the districts of Gurugram and Faridabad in view of large number of positive cases being found on daily basis during the last 10 days,” the order said for both religious places and malls. Gurgaon reported 230 Covid-19 cases on Sunday and Faridabad 56.
This means restaurants within malls will not open. The standalone ones that do will only be allowed to operate between 9am and 8pm, with no more than half their seating capacity. No buffet services will be allowed, bars will not be open and all workers have to wear masks and gloves at all times.
Banquet halls larger than 2,000 sq ft can operate with no more than 50 guests who maintain a distance of “2 gaz (1 metre)” at all times. In hotels, both dine-in services and room service will be allowed. Gaming arcades and children’s play areas will remain closed.
Deputy commissioners will set up joint teams to ensure these rules are followed and those found violating will be booked under Section 188 of IPC and issued challans. Reports on enforcement will be shared with the urban development ministry.
