PATNA: Incarcerated RJD chief Lalu Prasad as well as his younger son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Monday launched a scathing attack on the state government over handling the Covid-19 pandemic. While Lalu accused CM Nitish of not coming out in the open during this crisis, Tejashwi claimed that testing for Covid-19 in Bihar is comparatively less. JD (U) members on the other hand, countered Lalu and Tejashwi, saying that the government in Bihar has handled the situation much better than many other states.
"In Bihar, the number of coronavirus cases are increasing with each passing day. Doubling rate has unprecedentedly spiked. Infection is spreading, still test is being done at a slow rate. CM should tell why in a state with 12.60 crore population, less than one lakh test has been done in the past three months," Tejashwi said in a statement issued on Monday morning.
The younger Yadav scion, who is in full election mood, did not stop here. He also questioned CM Nitish's silence over development in health infrastructure. "Many a times, I have asked about the status of availability of ventilators, beds in ICU and test centres. But I have not been given any replies," he said.
Lalu on the other hand, slammed CM Nitish for not coming out of his house and leaving the public in the middle of battle field. Lalu in his tweet said people will take count of all these in the upcoming state Assembly elections.
Hitting back at Lalu, JD (U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said CM Nitish has done the best management during Covid-19 crises and did not need to reply on this. "Money was transferred in the account of lakhs of migrants. Again lakhs of migrants were quarantined and sent to their home. They are also being given employment now. On the other hand, Tejashwi is not even going to his constituency to see the reality," he said.
Another JD (U) state spokesperson Anjum Ara slammed Tejashwi for misleading people and giving wrong data. "Census was done in 2011 and fresh census is slated next year. Thus, the data being cited by Tejashwi is unauthentic and misleading. He is already facing court trials in money laundering case, hope he does not face another charge for misleading people using false data. Also, the state government has spent over Rs 8538 crore on managing Covid-19 crisis. Being an opposition leader, Tejashwi should know what the government is doing, than outrightly telling lies in public."
