Rajasthan sees rise in tourist footfall as important monuments opened from 2nd June

After an approximate two and a half months lockdown, the doors of different well-known museums and monuments in Rajasthan have ultimately opened for the commoners from June 2nd. A total of 3,000 tourists in the last four days have been pouring into all these places. Report has been given by the Rajasthan Department of Tourism, Industry and Culture.


In India, Rajasthan is the first state to open its spectacular monuments for tourists. On Sunday, the Union Culture Minister gave permission in the opening of all museums and monuments under ASI from Monday. The monuments in Rajasthan which are located in the containment and curfew area are not being allowed till now. Everything else is allowed to open four days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday) for the first two weeks.


To quote Shreya Guha, the Chief Secretary of ourism, industry and culture, ‘Most of the tourists are locals. It’s a good sign that people are slowly starting to come out and at the same time follow all the rules. We also wanted to start tourism at the local level in the beginning. When tourism is opened for the people of the country tomorrow, they should have no fear in their minds. This also sends the message that Rajasthan is safe for tourism.”


In the Pink City, Jaipur, permission has been given to open 6 monuments and museums. 707 tourists have visited Amber Fort. The city witnessed a total number of 1608 tourists in all the monuments in these days. 1450 people have visited tourist centers in the rest of Rajasthan. As of Sunday, the total number of tourists was 3,256.
