Gurgaon to come out with SOP for private hospitals soon

Gurgaon: The city will soon have a dedicated standard operation procedure (SOP) for private hospitals to deal with Covid-19 patients. The moves comes after three private hospitals recently denied admission to a patient infected with the virus.
GMDA additional CEO Sonal Goel, who is also the chief of Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited and was appointed the nodal officer for healthcare facilities management on Thursday, held a meeting over the issue with representatives of 25 private hospitals on Sunday. In the meeting, Goel said hospitals can’t refuse treatment to Covid patients and asked them to share details of beds and patients. It has been decided that the hospitals will share data with GMDA twice in day, which will be updated on the Onemap Gurugram website for convenience of the people.
“We are preparing an SOP for hospitals to streamline the process of dealing with Covid-19 patients. We have told hospitals not to refuse treatment to any patient and to provide the patient with the reason in case he/she is turned away. An official communication will be sent soon,” HSVP estate officer-2 Vivek Kalia, who took part in the meeting, said.
“A total of 921 beds have been reserved for Covid patients in 23 hospitals in the city. We will be conducting regular inspections of hospitals and keep track of how many beds are available,” he added.
