India Lockdown 5.0 News, Coronavirus India Latest Updates: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has gone into self-quarantine after developing mild fever and sore throat. Kejriwal will get himself tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday, news agency PTI reported. With the highest single-day spike of 9,983 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, India’s coronavirus tally has now reached 2,56,611. As many as 206 deaths have also been reported taking the death toll to 7,135, latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday. There are 1,25,381 active cases and 1,24,095 people have been cured/discharged/migrated so far, it said. Maharashtra alone has reported over 85,975 cases becoming the worst-affected state in the country.  The state has now even surpassed China’s tally of 83,036 confirmed COVID-19 cases.  While coronavirus cases continue to surge in the country, malls, restaurants, religious places opened on Monday as part of Unlock 1.0.

India has now overtaken Spain as the fifth worst-affected country by the deadly disease. The US, Brazil, Russia and the UK are the other countries which have recorded more cases that India. However, the rate of recovery among Coronavirus patients is one of the best in India. The current recovery rate is at 48.20 per cent. As per a PTI report, top four metros – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai – account for nearly half of the Coronavirus cases in the country. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced that city’s borders with UP and Haryana to be opened from Monday. The CM also said that government, private hospitals in Delhi will only treat patients from national capital.
