BENGALURU: Yolobus, a startup looking to standardise inter-city bus travel, has raised $3.3 million in a Series-A funding round led by Nexus Venture Partners to expand its service in the country and invest in safety features. The funding also saw participation from India Quotient.

Shailesh Gupta, cofounder of Yolobus, said Nexus’ managing director Suvir Sujan and Anand Lunia, general partner at India Quotient, will join the board of Yolobus. The investment takes the total capital raised by the company to $4.1 million across its seed and Series-A rounds.

Yolobus is looking to introduce for bus travellers safety measures similar to those imposed by airlines, at a time when there is demand for inter-city travel but people are wary of contracting Covid-19. “We should recover demand in the next two to three months. Even now, there is pent-up demand, but every alternate seat on the bus is blocked to maintain social distancing,” said Gupta, who is also the CEO of Yolobus.
