CHENNAI: Six members of a police team tasked to solve a burglary case have tested positive for
Covid-19.
The team members underwent Covid test after the burglar they arrested and the informer they used found infected.
While two head constables tested positive on May 31, two SIs, another head constable and a grade I constable tested positive on Friday.
Police said a petty shop on Gangai Amman Temple street was broken open on May 15 and its owner M Kathirvel, 51, lodged a complaint that 20 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ?5,000 he had kept in the shop was burgled.
Police launched a hunt for the suspects and arrested Kalidas, 55, and Mohammed Ibrahim, 57, of Washermenpet.
However, the informer and Mohammed Ibrahim tested positive the next day.
All the infected have been quarantined.
