LUCKNOW: Lucknow University examinations scheduled between March and May but deferred due to Covid-19 pandemic will be held from July 23. Students will appear for examinations in their own college as per "self-centre" policy.
Keeping in mind the stress and limitations of online teaching, the examination duration of first and second year undergraduate (UG) courses and number of questions in a paper have been reduced to half.
However, no change has been made in postgraduate (PG) examinations.
Over 1.20 lakh students of LU in 170 colleges will appear in these examinations.
The decisions were taken by the examination committee on Saturday. According to officers, UG examination will be held from July 23 to August 14 and PG from July 25 to August 7. While 94,800 students of LU and affiliated colleges will appear in UG exams, 30,000 will take PG examinations.
The exams will be held from July 23 in three shifts. Each shift will be of an hour and the questions in a paper will be 40. The final-year examination will be held in annual examination mode. In fact, it is the last batch which will be following the annual system. Examinations were earlier scheduled in March. Now, they will be held in two shifts, each of three-hour duration, as followed earlier.
However, students will have to answer five short-type questions and not 10 as per the earlier pattern. In long answer-type questions, earlier students had to answer four questions, one each from four units. Now, they can answer any four from a unit or units as per their choice. No change has been made in duration and question paper format of PG semester examinations.
"Online learning can not be at par with classroom teaching, hence reforms have been introduced. However, relaxations are only for these examinations. LU will be back to its usual mode from next examinations," said vice-chancellor Prof AK Rai.
Law UG examinations will be held from July 28 to August 14 and law PG from July 28 to August 11.
