Why is Haryana Board Class 10th Result 2020 postponed?

HBSE Haryana Board 10th Result 2020: Just a couple of hours before announcing the result, the Haryana Board of Secondary Education (HBSE), Bhiwani has decided to postpone the result declaration. The Haryana Board had earlier announced to declare the result for class 10 board exams on June 8, however, the board in recent circular announced that the result will now be declared in July.

Once declared the result will be available at the official website, bseh.org.in. The postponement has been announced for the remiaining science exam. The BSEH was about to declare the result based on four exams and the marks for science was to be declared on the basis of average score, however, those who wanted to take science in class 11 and 12 had to clear the science exam. This had left many students in a state of confusion.

Clarifying these doubts, the Haryana Board chairperson Jagbir Singh informed that the result was to be based on evaluation of four subjects and the fifth exam for science subject which could not be conducted was be marked on the basis of average marks scored by the candidates. However, students who wish to opt for science subject in class 11 will have to appear for the science exam later.

No dates have been announced for the science exams and it is likely that it would be held at the school level, however, details can be expected at the time of declaration of the results. Meanwhile, the class 12 exams which were postponed due to the coronavirus lockdown will be held again from July 1 to July 15. The exam dates of the exam or subject-wise schedule will be released 10 days in advance.

Final decision

Now, the board has decided to hold the exam for science subjects too. Students who do not wish to take science in class 11 and 12 can give the exam a miss and their marks will be calculated on an average basis. New date of the exam are yet to be out and the result will now be declared in July.

To pass the Haryana Board exams, students need to score at least 33 per cent marks in each subject as well as in aggregate.

A total of 3.38 lakh candidates appeared for the exam of which 1.86 lakh were male students and 1.51 were female students. Of these, 2.26 lakh students are from rural and 1.11 lakh are from urban areas. From state schools, 1.69 lakh students applied for the exams while from private schools as many as 1.68 lakh had applied for the Haryana Board class 10 exam.

Last year, only 57.39 per cent students could clear the Haryana Board class 10 exam. Those who fail in one or two subjects have an option of appearing in compartmental or improvement examination, however, the sate of these exams is not clear considering the COVID-19 situation.
