India's top four metropolitian clusters - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, account for nearly half of the nationwide Covid-19 cases
latest news: India reported its highest single-day spike of Covid-19 cases for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday, with 9,971 new infections, according to the data. The country's rank is rising among countries most-affected in the pandemic in terms of total number of cases, data from different organisations shows.

India had 247,040 cases and 6,946 deaths from the disease to rank sixth, according to Worldometer website on Sunday. USA's Johns Hopkins University put the same the numbers for total cases and deaths, but ranked India as the fifth most-affected.
 
The country’s put the total Covid-19 cases at 236,657 and deaths at 6,929, according to data released on Saturday.

Coronavirus world update: The global tally of coronavirus cases stands at 6,982,061 and 402,241 people have died from the disease so far.
