DEHRADUN: Two Covid-19 positive patients died in
Dehradun in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of
coronavirus deaths in
Uttarakhand to 13.
A 50-year-old vegetable trader from Niranjanpur Sabzi Mandi, who tested Covid-19 positive last week, died during treatment at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) on Saturday late night.
In another death, an 80-year-old man from
Moradabad breathed his last at GDMC in the wee hours on Sunday. He was referred to
Doon hospital from a city based private hospital.
According to the health department, five family members of the deceased also tested positive after he did but are asymptomatic and are undergoing treatment at a Covid care centre in the city.
As per the health department, over 40 people directly associated with Niranjanpur Sabzi Mandi or those who were the close contacts of Mandi workers tested Covid-19 positive in the last 10 days.
Confirming the deaths, Dr NS Khatri, Covid-19 nodal officer of GDMC said that the vegetable trader was critical and had been admitted at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the past three days and he had high BP as well as pneumonia.
“The 80-year-old patient was referred to us in a very critical stage. He couldn’t survive even for two hours after reaching GDMC. ," said Dr Khatri.
