154 new Covid-19 cases in Assam, 79 discharged from hospitals

GUWAHATI: Assam's cumulative Covid-19 positive count has reached 2,397 with 154 fresh cases on Saturday. The state now has 1802 active cases and the recovery tally has increased to 588 with 79 patients getting discharged from various hospitals during the day.
Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said among the fresh cases, four had returned to the state recently by air. In all, 70 people who returned to the state by air since flight operations resumed on May 25 have tested positive. Among them, 30 came back from Kuwait.
The minister also visited the Sivasagar Civil Hospital to take stock of the situation, future preparedness and seek inputs from doctors and medical staff.
