BMC denies Covid-19 tests in Mumbai decreasing

MUMBAI: BMC denied state Opposition allegations that Covid-19 tests here had drastically reduced. Former chief minister and leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis had claimed tests had reduced. On May 1, of all tests in the state, 56% were from Mumbai; it came down to 40.5% on May 15, and on May 31, 27% were from Mumbai, he had claimed on Thursday.
BMC said around 4,000 tests were being conducted daily. It said between till May 6, around one lakh Covid-19 tests were conducted, and so far, 2.12 lakh tests have been conducted; 16,304 tests were being conducted per million.
There are 22 laboratories where these tests are conducted, which include three of BMC, five of the state government and 14 private.
