Yogi Adityanath was made the successor of Gorakshpeeth in the year 1994. Gorakshapeethadhishwar Mahant Avedyanath declared him his successor. He changed his name after becoming a successor. He became Yogi Adityanath.

He was elected MP for the first time in 1998.

In 1998, he was elected MP for the first time. When Yogi Adityanath reached Parliament in the 12th Lok Sabha, he was only 26 years old.

Four consecutive MPs from Gorakhpur

After this, Adityanath continued to be elected MP in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014 as well.
