HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court on Saturday directed the state government to not conduct SSC exams in the GHMC areas.
The court made it clear that Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Secunderabad areas have become Covid-19 hotspots and hence can’t be allowed to have exams there.
In the rest of the state, however, the court said that exams can be conducted by taking necessary precautions.
On Saturday, Chitra Ramachandran, the special chief secretary education, informed the court that students who are not able to appear for the SSC exams due to Covid-19 situation will be allowed to appear for the advanced supplementary examination, which will be held at later date, depending on the prevailing situation. She said that such students will be considered and treated as regular candidates, as a special case for this year alone.
Based on the high court's order, the SSC exams were postponed after students appeared for first and second language exams in March. The remaining SSC exams are scheduled to be conducted between June 8 and July 5. Over five lakh students will be appearing for these exams in the state.
