As the Central and state governments allow phase-wise relaxation in curbs to get the life up and running again following over two months of lockdown to prevent the spread of Covid-19, we bring you the latest updates from your city.
*Lack of adequate drinking water and sufficient food, besides the fear of being infected, is prompting migrant workers to escape from institutional quarantine facilities like hostels and residential schools.
*Police in Raichur were left dumbstruck and mystified when they began receiving alerts from the Covid-19 War Room in Bengaluru saying people in the district were “escaping” from quarantine – both home and institutional facilities.
*Karnataka on Friday reported its highest-ever increase of 515 cases in a single day, the number making up nearly 17% of active cases in the state.
*Karnataka’s previous sharpest spike was 388 cases recorded on June 2.
*Udupi reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases.
*No cases were reported from Raichur where 1,022 samples were awaiting results on Thursday.
