Covid-19. A police inspector in Tuticorin district too tested positive.
Madurai airport director S Senthil Valavan said they have been testing airport staff and
CISF personnel, who get exposed to passengers.
A CISF jawan tested positive on Friday. Officials tested his primary contacts at the airport and in barracks. Out of the jawan’s primary contacts, one person tested positive on Saturday. Now testing of secondary contacts was under way, he said.
Officials at the airport said there were more than 250 CISF personnel. They are being deployed at the airport on a shift basis.
Tuticorin reported its first case among police personnel on Saturday. After Eral police station inspector tested positive, samples were taken from his close contacts including his driver.
