In a hilarious yet serious incident, a Pune resident ordered a laptop from e-commerce website but instead of the product ordered, he received a stone tile

Online shopping may be a good way to save some penny but it can also turn into a comical if not unlucky experience. Talawde resident, Chinmay Girish Madholkar had ordered a laptop through an online shopping website and used his credit card for payment. A few days later Madholkar received a stone tile in the delivery package, instead of the laptop that he ordered.

Later on, an FIR was lodged at Dehu Road police station alleging on being cheated by the e-commerce company.

According to reports, Madholkar ordered a branded laptop and paid an amount of Rs 37,990 through his credit card. He received the parcel on May 29 around 11 am when the delivery executive handed over the package. To his shock, the parcel contained a red coloured stone tile instead of a laptop.

Madholkar first filed a complaint at the e-commerce website. After checking the shipping details, the online portal told Chinmay that a laptop was dispatched from their warehouse.

It is believed that the laptop was replaced with a stone tile, right before the delivery. Although there is no evidence for the same, yet.

Madholkar has filed an FIR case against the online shopping portal, the case is under investigation.  The police may be suspecting the delivery man as shipping details show a 'laptop' was dispatched for delivery.

Meanwhile, with the ease in lockdown, the crime rate in Pune has increased. In the month of May alone, there have 11 break-ins and 16 vehicle thefts.  Replacing the laptop with a stone tile could be another attempt at stealing. The city is already facing a surge in coronavirus cases, along with an alarming trend of burglaries.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) addressed the increasing crime rate in the city and assured the public that the cops are working on all robbery cases and night patrolling has been increased.
