CHENNAI: Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday congratulated 13-year-old M Nethra, daughter of C Mohan, a hairdresser in Madurai who contributed Rs 5 lakh to help the needy buy groceries and vegetables during the lockdown. The girl inspired her father to help the needy with the money he had saved for her future.
The chief minister assured that the state government would take care of the girl’s higher education.
Recognising Nethra’s selfless act and sense of commitment to help the poor, the chief minister said, “My heartfelt wishes to Nethra to excel in everything and receive many accolades and recognition adding glory to Tamil Nadu and the country.”
Palaniswami also congratulated Mohan, who runs a salon at Melamadai.
The father-daughter duo made it to the headlines when Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated them on Mann Ki Baat last week.
