Jyotiraditya Scindia removes BJP from Twitter: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia recently created a flutter after a section of media reported that he has removed ‘BJP’ from his Twitter profile. However, later it emerged that Scindia never mentioned ‘BJP’ in his Twitter profile. A report in Amar Ujala pointed to the missing details from Scindia’s profile, triggering speculations about his next move.

The timing was significant as it came just a day after former minister Balendu Shukla returned to the Congress. Shukla comes from the Gwalior-Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh and his return to the Congress comes just ahead of the Assembly bypolls. Shukla was a close aide and childhood friend of Madhavrao Scindia, Jyotiradiya’s father. But he left the party in 2008 reportedly due to differences with Jyotiraditya and joined the BJP.

Scindia’s supporter Krishna Rathore trashed the rumours, saying there has been no change in the bio of the politician and have called the rumour mongering a Congress conspiracy.

Also, Scindia retweeted Rathore’s tweet that mentioned that his Twitter bio remained unchanged and that rumours surrounding it were baseless.

“The news in the media about Jyotiraditya Scindia are completely baseless. Scindia ji has not made any changes in his twitter bio. His bio was mentioned that he is a cricket lover and public servant and it remains the same today,” he tweeted.

Scindia quit the Congress after a rift with Kamal Nath and the party’s central leadership. He wanted a Rajya Sabha berth but the Congress denied him the same. Scindia then quit the grand old party and joined the BJP which nominated him to the Upper House from the landlocked state.

Scindia had contested the Lok Sabha elections last year from the traditional family seat of Guna, but lost to his former aide and BJP’s Krishna Pal Singh Yadav by nearly 1.25 lakh votes.

Reports about Scindia removing ‘BJP’ from his Twitter profile gained attention as he had removed Congress from his page months before leaving the party. “Public servant, cricket enthusiast,” his Twitter profile now reads.

Scindia is one of three Rajya Sabha nominees of the BJP from Madhya Pradesh. While Scindia and Congress leader Digvijaya Singh are expected to comfortably win in the polls, slated for June 19, BJP’s Sumer Singh Solanki and Phool Singh Baraiya of the Congress are likely to slug it out for the third seat.
