ERODE:
Tamil Nadu school education minister
K A Sengottaiyan said on Friday that Class X students will be allowed to write their board examinations only after they undergo thermal screening before entering the examination hall.
Talking to reporters in Singiripalayam village in Erode district, Sengottaiyan said the state government had procured enough number of thermal scanners. He clarified that the parent-teachers associations need not purchase scanners.
“The scanners have been sent to all schools across the state. All Class X students will be given two masks while entering the hall,” he said.
The minister appealed to parents to inform the school management if their child was suffering from any
Covid-19 symptoms. “Parents should contact health department officials if their child has fever,” he said. However, Sengottaiyan said the department was yet to decide about students who may suffer from fever at the time of examination.
Citing Kerala’s success on conducting board examinations amid the pandemic, the minister hoped that his department would also conduct the examinations smoothly. He instructed all students to appear at their centre before 9.45am and asked them to cooperate with health officials during the screening.
The minister was at Singiripalayam to oversee road-laying activities.
