Aarya will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar.
The trailer of upcoming Disney Plus Hotstar web series Aarya is out. It marks the return of Bollywood actor Sushmita Sen to acting after a gap of five years.
The trailer promises an engaging web series where Aarya (Sen) transforms from a dutiful mother and good wife to a fierce woman after her husband is shot dead in broad daylight. She takes over his business of illegal medicines and is willing to go to any length to protect her three children.
Now, how she manages to deal with the constant threats from her husband’s business partners while being under constant police scrutiny for running an international drug racket in the garb of a medicine business, leaves one intrigued. Neerja fame Ram Madhvani, who has written and directed Aarya, seems to have packed the web series with several twists.
Sushmita Sen seems to have gotten a perfect comeback with Aarya. Talking about the web series, the former Miss Universe said, “Aarya represents strength, determination and above all vulnerability in a world full of crime, a world run by men. For me, it is the story of family, betrayal and a mother who is willing to go to any length to protect her children. It took me a decade to find a role like this to sink into and I’m thrilled to be a part of this incredible story.”
Director Ram Madhvani, in a statement, promised that Aarya would be an unpredictable yet refreshing watch. He shared, “Every character has a purpose in Aarya’s journey as she goes from being a homemaker to a hardened criminal. I spent many years trying to build this world brick-by-brick, but I didn’t do it alone – 588 others from the cast and crew have built this show from the ground up.”
Aarya is said to be a remake of the Dutch crime thriller titled Penoza. Apart from Sushmita, the web series stars Chandrachur Singh, Namit Das, Sikandar Kher, Manish Chaudhari, Vinod Rawat, Ankur Bhatia, Alexx O’Nell and Sugandha Garg among others. It will begin streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar from June 19.
