Wesleyan College expelled for racist post

To our top story tonight at five... wesleyan college in macon has expelled a student who posted racist statements and photos on social media.

The school announced the latest action thursday night... on several social media platforms. the student's social media post used a racial slur.

Social media users... shared the post ... demanding that the student be removed.

Students, alumni and staff say the incident is a teachable moment... when it comes to racism in america.

Its a problem that needs to be talked about, its a problem that needs to be regulated, no one should every, anywhere should get away with discriminatory c1 3 b13 messages posted anywhere, if they are in relation to wesleyan college.

As soon as wesleyan college was made aware of the posts... the school says there was an investigation.

And the student was expelled ... effective immediately.

In a facebook statement last night... wesleyan posted in part -- quote -- "these posts are *abhorrent to us ... and a gross violation of wesleyan's mission and values.
