nodal officer for Covid-19 control programme and his daughter, who is also a doctor, on Thursday tested positive for the novel
coronavirus at PGIMS
Rohtak. The health authorities have traced the 110 people who had come in contact with them.
The state nodal officer, Dr Dhruva Chaudhary, 56, who is a senior professor and head of the department of pulmonary and critical care medicine at PGIMS Rohtak, and his daughter, who is doctor in a private hospital, have tested positive for the virus, said CMO Rohtak Dr Anil Birla.
Their samples were taken on Wednesday and tests were conducted at PGIMS Rohtak and both were found positive on Thursday.
Talking to TOI over phone, Dr Chaudhary said after he and his daughter developed symptoms of fever and sore throat, they got themselves tested for Covid-19.
Haryana nodal officer in isolationDr Chaudhary said that they were under isolation and taking treatment as per protocol for novel coronavirus patients.
CMO Rohtak said the department had traced their 110 contacts on PGIMS campus and 14 of them are doctors. "All of them will be tested and put under quarantine,” he added.
Dr VK Katyal, senior professor and head of the department of medicine, Rohtak PGIMS, was given the charge of state nodal officer for Covid-19. Rohtak has so far reported 100 Covid-19 positive cases. On June 2, Rohtak had recorded its highest single-day spike of 45 cases.
