Can Audi’s $109,000 RS6 Avant Beat Lamborghini’s $211,000 Urus?

This might just be the VW Group at its finest in terms of family haulers powered by the exact same engine duking it out, as both the latest Audi RS6 Avant and the Lamborghini Urus rely on twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 TFSI units.

Before we enter the spec comparison, let us remind you that the new Audi RS6 Avant is offered in the States from $109,000 or nearly half the price of the Lamborghini Urus that starts from $211,321.

In the Audi, this engine offers 592 HP (600 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, while the same unit modified for use in the Lamborghini SUV gets 641 HP (650 PS) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque.

Both cars get 8-speed automatic gearboxes, and weigh about the same, which may come as a shock to some. The Urus tips the scales at 4,850 lbs (2,200 kg), while the RS6 could use a good diet to shed some of its 4,740 lbs (2,150 kg).

Usually, we’d bet everything on the non-SUV type of vehicle in one of these drag races, but again, usually, those tend to weigh considerably less than their larger opponents. In this case however, things look surprisingly balanced.

So what you end up with is 100 lbs (50 kg) less in the Audi, but 50 extra horsepower and roughly 30 extra lb-ft (50 Nm) of torque more in the Lamborghini SUV.

We’re glad to see that the lads over at Archie Hamilton Racing made sure to cover all of their bases, racing the two hyper-family cars both from a standstill as well as a roll. In the end, there was very little doubt left over which of the two would be a more reliably quicker car when it comes to immediate acceleration.

The question is, are you in any way surprised by the result?
